Kiss

2017, video art

Part of my thesis from 2017, Kiss focuses on public displays of affection between queer couples, Kiss uses  footage of people kissing in public that is then shared online, available to anyone with an internet connection and then using this footage to create my work and putting it back into a public setting. By putting this video work in a public setting you can see people reacting to two people kissing.

By having two people kissing in a large projected format, the emphasis is on how when you see two people kiss it gives you insight into their sexuality, the assumption that they could be straight is taken away. In contrast other parts of this work explore various subtle pieces of affection, such as hand holding, a form of affection where it can be between a couple, family or friends.
